Created in 2003, the Conservancy’s Kids’ Guide to Broadway recently inspired middle-school kids at the Bresee Foundation 2012 Summer Camp to recreate the historic streetscape using recycled materials.
The kids toured Broadway, took pictures, and mapped a nine-block stretch to better understand the architecture and history of the street.
Check out this video to learn more about the project. Want to see it in person? Visit it at the Blackstone Building, 901 S. Broadway, for a limited time.
The full-color, bilingual guide was produced right when Broadway’s revitalization was kicking into full gear. While some of the details are out of date, the guide is a great introduction to the street and how to explore the fascinating aspects of historic buildings.
