Historic Broadway Façade Rehabilitation Design Assistance Grant Program
The Historic Broadway Façade Rehabilitation Design Assistance Program (Design Assistance Program) was designed to help owners and tenants visualize the potential for their property and to urge them to embark on improvement projects. Applications were accepted from owners of, or tenants in, historic buildings located in the National Register historic district on Broadway. Recipients received free schematic storefront designs and preliminary construction cost estimates for the proposed designs. Using annotated photographs and drawings, the schematic drawings identify design and maintenance issues, illustrate and describe recommended improvements, material and construction solutions, and suggest phasing. All designs are compatible with the Historic Downtown Los Angeles Design Guidelines.
Special thanks to Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard for making this grant program possible, the U.S. Small Business Administration, Architectural Resources Group, and Jacobus and Yuang for working with us on this grant program.
