Nominations for the Conservancy’s 27th Annual Preservation Awards were submitted at the end of January, and the jury will meet in early March to determine the winners. We will post information about each winner later in March.
The awards will be presented at a luncheon on Thursday, May 8 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. We will post information about this exciting event as details become available.
Presented each May during National Preservation Month, the Conservancy's Preservation Awards recognize outstanding achievement in the field of historic preservation. Winners are selected by an independent jury of leading experts in architecture, historic preservation, and community development.
To qualify, projects must have been completed by December 31, 2007, and be located in L.A. County. Construction projects may be commercial, residential, or institutional. Historic landscape projects, as well as contributions to preservation education or program development, are also encouraged.
Preservation Award winners range widely, from sensitive restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse projects, to groundbreaking advocacy and education efforts by individuals and groups. We encourage submissions from throughout Los Angeles County that illustrate the value and power of historic preservation. Past recipients include the Dr. Ralph J. Bunche Peace and Heritage Center, Oaklawn Bridge and Waiting Station, Palomar Senior Apartments, Pantages Theatre, Point Fermin Lighthouse, and Valley Municipal Building.
The deadline for submitting nominations was January 31, 2008. Each nomination has a non-refundable application fee of $50.
