Bowman-Kruhm, Mary. A Day in the Life of an Architect. New York: Rosen Books, 2001. This book profiles a typical day in the life of an architect – a great way to open your child’s eyes to a possible career.

Crosbie, Michael J., Kit Rosenthal, and Steve Rosenthal. Arches to Zigzags: An Architecture ABC. New York: Abrams Books for Young Readers, 2000. This large-format book with vivid color photographs provides an exciting introduction to basic elements of architecture.

Politi, Leo. Piccolo’s Prank. New York: Scribner’s, 1965. This book is out of print but is available through the Los Angeles Public Library. Set in Los Angeles’ downtown district, it tells the story of a mischievous monkey and his adventure on Angels Flight.

Wilkinson, Philip. Eyewitness: Building. New York: Dorling Kindersley, 2000. This informative, colorful book describes the evolution of buildings from the earliest humans to the present day.
