About the Film
This 1963 Alfred Hitchcock thriller stars Tippi Hedren in one of her earliest and most memorable roles. Young San Francisco socialite Melanie Daniels (Hedren) meets lawyer Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor) in a bird shop, where he mistakes her for a salesperson. Intrigued by Brenner, Daniels attempts to surprise him by delivering a pair of lovebirds to his family home in Bodega Bay.
In Bodega Bay, Daniels notices the local birds behaving strangely. First, a single seagull swoops down and gashes her forehead in a seemingly fluke incident. However, more and more the birds seem to be coordinating, and their attacks are becoming more violent. What is causing the birds’ menacing behavior, and will the town’s residents survive it?
Master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock keeps the audience on the edge of their seat until the very end of this iconic film.
Tippi Hedren earned a Golden Globe for New Star of the Year – Actress for her role in The Birds.
