About the Film

This classic Western stars Paul Newman as Butch Cassidy and Robert Redford as his partner the “Sundance Kid.”

At the time of its release, The Hollywood Reporter called Redford and Newman’s comic exchanges in the film “shrewdly timed” and “crucial and precise.” Today, you might call their performances the ultimate bromance.

When their gang’s planned train robbery goes wrong, Butch and Sundance find themselves on the run from a group of relentless lawmen who are determined to apprehend the pair. Along with Sundance’s schoolteacher girlfriend, Etta (Katharine Ross), they escape to Bolivia in the hopes of furthering their careers as outlaws. One small problem: they don’t speak enough Spanish to hold up a bank.
