Culver City at a Crossroads

Explore the history of Culver City! This special event includes a self-paced tour of 20 historic sites, an exclusive mini-tour of Helms Bakery District, and access to the Robert Frost Auditorium at Culver City High School. Registration also includes admission to two presentations and discounts at local restaurants.

You’ll stroll through the heart of Culver City at your own pace, visiting historic sites in any order you choose. Our knowledgeable docents will be on hand at tour sites to provide historical information.

Take a break from touring with one of our optional presentations, or visit one of the area’s popular restaurants and take advantage of special discounts (details available soon).

Event Timeline

9:00 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Check in at Helms Bakery District to pick up tour materials and wristbands

10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Robert Frost Auditorium at Culver City High School campus open to visitors

10 a.m. – 4 p.m.: The first 250 people to register for Culver City at a Crossroads have the option to attend a guided 30-minute tour of Sony Pictures Studios’ iconic Thalberg building and public art piece, Rainbow, led by Sony Pictures’ tour guides. (Tours begin every half hour; tours last approximately 30 minutes) SOLD OUT

10 a.m. – 4 p.m.: Culver City Historical Society volunteers present at their Archives and Resource Center at the Veterans Memorial Building. Check out their archives and purchase great Culver City memorabilia. 

10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.: Mini guided tours of Helms Bakery District (tours begin every half hour; tours last approximately 30 minutes)

10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 12 p.m.: 30-minute guided walks at Culver Studios. See the iconic mansion and the construction of Amazon Studios’ new sound stages (limited capacity; early arrival recommended).

11 – 11:50 a.m.: Presentation, Screenland to Streamland 

1 – 1:50 p.m.: Presentation, Art Tells a Story 

1 p.m.: Public tour of Wende Museum exhibition, Watching Socialism: The Television Revolution in Eastern Europe, led by museum docents (limited capacity)

3 p.m.: Public tour of Wende Museum exhibition, Watching Socialism: The Television Revolution in Eastern Europe, led by museum docents (limited capacity)

5 p.m. Event ends

Select Tour Sites

Culver Hotel 
Upon its opening in 1924, local press dubbed the flatiron-shaped building a “skyscraper” – its six stories visible from miles around.

Helms Bakery District
This former bakery is now a mixed-use complex that is home to specialty shops, furniture stores, restaurants, and more. Take an exclusive 30-minute tour of the complex and see how the site's history lives on today. Tours begin every half hour from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Robert Frost Auditorium, Culver City High School 
This futuristic auditorium is one of the most breathtaking Modern buildings ever designed. Access to the auditorium’s interior is available between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Wende Museum
Free admission! Visit on your own, or take a guided tour with a Wende Museum docent at 1 or 3 p.m. Museum hours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
