Join us and our special guests for a happy hour cocktail to celebrate and learn more about L.A’s vintage legacy businesses. Hear stories about how these long-standing community anchors connect us to our past and present—and why they matter now more than ever.

We will virtually ‘meet’ at the legendary Formosa Café and uncover some of the recent behind-the-scenes efforts that went into restoring this one-of-a-kind landmark.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions and get to know the Formosa and other legacy businesses better. Attendees will also be treated to a special cocktail recipe!

Thursday, July 30, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Zoom

Special guests:

Alison Martino, a Los Angeles-based television producer, documentarian, columnist, and lifelong resident of the city. She also curates Vintage Los Angeles (VLA), an ever growing photo-centric page on Facebook and Instagram dedicated to highlighting L.A.’s physical transformation during the 20th Century, as well as its history as the center of the entertainment industry and community.

Bobby Green, co-founder and creative designer of the 1933 Group, responsible for restoring and reimaging some of L.A.’s most successful nightspots, including West Hollywood’s Formosa Café, the Highland Park Bowl, and the barrel-shaped Idle Hour in North Hollywood. Next up is their long-awaited plan to reopen (and relocate) the beloved and iconic Tail o’ the Pup, a 1946 walk-up stand shaped like a hot dog and bun.
