Student Workshops: Adventures in Architecture

The L.A. Conservancy now offers Adventures in Architecture workshops in person and virtually!

Adventures in Architecture workshops take students on a virtual or in-person field trip to significant historic sites located within a unique Los Angeles neighborhood. Students will meet members of the community and learn why protecting historic places matters.
All of the Conservancy's workshops are led by Conservancy educators and support California's Common Core State Standards in History and Social Sciences.
Adventures in Architecture can be customized to support classroom learning and is provided in three-to-six sessions. Virtual workshops are provided via Zoom.
We are currently offering three different neighborhood explorations:
  • Burbank: Understand how Burbank evolved over time with influences from the aviation and studio industry.

  • Lincoln Heights: Explore the rich history of this Northeast Los Angeles neighborhood and understand its significance to multiple civil rights movements, including the East L.A. Chicano Student Walkouts.

  • Westlake/MacArthur Park: Learn how Westlake, once a popular vacation destination, transformed into MacArthur Park, one of the most diverse neighborhoods in L.A. that is full of eclectic architecture.

To book or learn more about our workshops, please submit a request form above and one of our educators will be in contact within 3-5 business days.
