Until I was 7 years old, my family lived on Stanley Drive, a block from La Cienega Park. The Carthay Circle Theatre was one of the first movie theatres that I ever went to.

I remember walking with my mom, aunt, and cousins down the long walkway leading to the theatre. The movie was "Around The World In 80 Days," and I'll never forget the feeling of immersion, taken in by the huge screen and the fabulous imaginative story.

I'm sure now that I've said "I'll never forget" and the movie was "Around the World," that my mom or someone will say it was "Can Can," but whatever it was I've never forgotten that theatre and only the Ziegfield in Manhattan has ever given me that same feeling of immersion.
