Watching History Being Demolished

Growing up as a child in the '80s in Los Angeles, I never realized the importance of the Ambassador Hotel. I passed it many times and never took notice of this great historical landmark. I wish I had.

I now attend school near the grounds where the hotel once stood, and I watched the daily demolition. It was heartbreaking to know that future generations will only be able to read about the Ambassador and see its glory in photos.

I never had the chance to enter its sacred halls and experience the ghosts that no doubt haunted its halls, but I am truly grateful to have stood as silent witness as it was slowly torn down.

I will never forget the awe that was experienced by gazing at the grounds that I knew held so much history. I am truly sad that my children will never be able to do the same.
