Women Deserve More Than Three Percent: A New Model for Gender Equitable Designation in Los Angeles
This year, the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Where Women Made History initiative, in partnership with the Los Angeles Conservancy are working on a solution.
Update: Great News for Marilyn Monroe's Former Residence
On March 5th, the City of Los Angeles Planned Land Use and Management Meeting (PLUM), the Marilyn Monroe Residence cleared yet another hurdle on its journey toward Historic-Cultural Monument (HCM) designation. The nomination will soon head to the full City Council for a vote.
In February 2024, Wayfarers Chapel closed indefinitely due to heavy rains and subsequent land movement/subsidence that is adversely affecting the structure of the iconic glass chapel.
The Conservancy has been pressing our City elected officials to take action in support of legacy businesses since 2019. In 2022, the City adopted a new citywide Legacy Business Program, joining other cities across the U.S. that are helping to support long-time business owners.
