The Conservancy’s Community Leadership Boot Camp offers participants best practices in preservation and lessons from the field, heightens awareness of current local preservation issues, and strengthens individual and group leadership skills. ADVOCACY

Sunkist Headquarters Pursues HCM Designation

The striking brutalist building just north of the 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks was recommended for designation as a Historic-Cultural Monument by the Cultural Heritage Commission on January 15.  Since 2016, the Conservancy has consulted on the project that includes new infill housing development and preservation of the iconic Modern structure.

La Brea Tar Pits Master Plan Approved

On January 13, the County Board of Supervisors certified an addendum to a Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) establishing a master plan for the La Brea Tar Pits and the George C. Page Museum. The revised project is downsized from the initial proposal in scope and overall size, striking a better balance between preservation, public space needs, and programming.

A Very Brady Historic-Cultural Monument

On January 15, the iconic television home of the Brady Bunch family was recommended for designation as a Historic-Cultural Monument (HCM) by the Cultural Heritage Commission. Brady Bunch co-producer Lloyd Schwartz, Barry Williams ("Greg Brady"), and Christopher Knight ("Peter Brady") all spoke in support of the designation at the City Hall meeting.
