About the Film

One of the most popular sci-fi films ever made, Blade Runner is director Ridley Scott’s dark, dystopian vision of a futuristic Los Angeles that blends cutting-edge visual effects with edge-of-your-seat storytelling. Harrison Ford stars as bounty hunter Rick Deckard (or “blade runner”) on the hunt for engineered humans called “replicants” who have come to earth. They’re stronger, faster, smarter, and almost indistinguishable from real humans … and they’re killing people.

But when Deckard (Ford) falls in love with a beautiful replicant (Sean Young), he begins to grapple with the question: if a machine can think, feel, and even love, is it alive?

Blade Runner is a sophisticated neo-noir and a visually sumptuous journey through the dark shadows of L.A. and the even darker shadows of human nature. Featuring a superb supporting cast including Rutger Hauer in a tour-de-force performance–plus extraordinary on-location shots of The Bradbury Building and Union Station– you won’t want to miss this 40th-anniversary presentation of the definitive version of Ridley Scott’s sci-fi classic.

The films in this series are presented as originally created during a different time period and may contain negative attitudes, language, and depictions of people and/or cultures. The Los Angeles Conservancy does not condone these representations.
