Bullocks Wilshire was a favorite spot to shop.

Thirty years ago when I moved to L.A. from New York, I loved to shop there because it had the ambience of a New York department store. Lunching at the tea room was always special with the informal modeling which was also very New York. I still have clothes from there that I can't part with.

Ambassador Hotel -- another great landmark along the boulevard. Every summer I would swim at their pool. You could join the health club and pool. It was great fun.

The same people would come year after year. We would eat in the hotel restaurant, and many times Mayor Bradley would be lunching as well.

I have great memories of those summers, especially because I did it with my best girlfriend, who is no longer with us.
