Azusa established its historic preservation program in 2001 when the City adopted a historic preservation ordinance and prepared a partial windshield survey of potential historic resources. The City’s historic preservation ordinance allows for the designation of both individual landmarks and historic districts.  However, owner consent is required for the designation of local landmarks.

Azusa has a dedicated historic preservation commission.  However, the City has not been active in the use of its historic preservation ordinance, and currently has one designated landmark.
