About This Tour
On our exciting tour, “A Woman’s Place,” you’ll explore L.A.’s iconic Union Station and historic Chinatown through the stories of influential women connected to both.
We’ll introduce you to Arcola Philpott, the first woman and first African American to be hired by the Los Angeles Railway, Esther Wong, one of the first female business owners in Chinatown, and the famed Harvey Girls, the country’s first national corp of independent women working in the 1800s to 1900s.

Tour price includes fares for a short ride on the Metro A Line to travel between tour sites.

Tour begins at Union Station. More meeting and parking information are provided in the registration confirmation.

All participants expressly waive the benefits of California Civil Code 1542, which provides that: “A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party.
