Avalon does not currently have a historic preservation ordinance.

This one square mile city on Santa Catalina Island, the second smallest municipality in Los Angeles County, updated its General Plan in 2013 and prepared a citywide survey of historic resources as part of the Cultural Resources Element.  This citywide survey marks an important step for Avalon that will aid in future preservation planning for historically significant sites throughout the community.

The scoring details for this community appear below. To see scores for all communities, compare specific communities and categories, and learn more about the Report Card, visit our Report Card microsite.
