Pico Rivera does not currently have a historic preservation ordinance. There is no historic resource survey for the entire city. However, the General Plan Environmental Baseline Report contains a list of 47 potentially historic resources in the city. This list dates from February 22, 1993.

Rolling Hills does not currently have a historic preservation ordinance. The city is one of three municipalities in Los Angeles County that are gated communities.  Located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, this residential community with extensive equestrian paths includes houses designed by master architects including Paul R. Williams.

Rolling Hills Estates adopted a historic preservation ordinance in 2001 that allows for the designation of individual landmark and historic districts. However, the City has not been active in the use of its historic preservation ordinance and has only designated three landmarks. Rolling Hills Estates has not yet conducted a survey of potential historic resources.

Signal Hill does not currently have a historic preservation ordinance, though the City’s Crescent Heights Historic District Specific Plan established in 2002 provides limited protection for that neighborhood.  The City can delay demolition for up to three months for historic houses located in the district, but cannot deny issuance of a demolition permit. South El Monte established a historic preservation ordinance in 1989, which allows for the designation of individual landmarks and historic districts. The designation of individual landmarks requires owner consent. However, the City has not been active in the use of its historic preservation ordinance, and has not yet designated any landmarks.
