The Los Angeles Conservancy strives to showcase and celebrate the history, culture, and architecture all of Los Angeles County, not just the locations that we able to operate tours and events at.

The Los Angeles Conservancy has been working with community partners in San Pedro, in order to create a list of local activities, museums, and restaurants that you may find of interest. This is by no means a comprehensive list, and there are many other great things to see and do in the San Pedro area.

Battleship Iowa

The Battleship Iowa is an Iowa class battleship that served in both the Pacific and Atlantic during World War II.  She carried President Franklin D. Roosevelt to the Tehran Conference with Joseph Stalin and Winston Churchill. Battleship Iowa is the only Battleship Museum on the West Coast.

Fort MacArthur

Fort MacArthur was a U.S. Army fort that guarded the Port of Los Angeles from 1914 to 1974. Turned into a museum in 1985, Fort MacArthur gives visitors the chance to view artifacts related to the civil defense of the Los Angeles coast.

Los Angeles Maritime Museum

Opened in 1979, the Los Angeles Maritime Museum is the largest maritime museum on the West Coast. Exhibits showcase the unique nautical history of the area.

S.S. Lane Victory

The S.S. Lane Victory is a Victory class cargo ship that saw use during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1990, the ship now serves as a maritime museum and memorial for the U.S. Merchant Marines.
