CHARLIE CHAPLIN DOUBLE BILL
You’re in for double the trouble with this matinee screening of Charlie’s Chaplin’s THE RINK and MODERN TIMES as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Orpheum Theatre!
Cheer as Charlie Chaplin’s Little Tramp slips, slides, and dazzles on ice in THE RINK after taking a job as a waiter at an ice-skating rink. His clumsy antics on the ice lead to chaotic, hilarious mishaps that disrupt the rink and entertain everyone. This early short showcases the physical comedy and charm that would define Chaplin’s Hollywood career and proves why he remains one of cinema’s most beloved icons.
Then, laugh as Tramp navigates the chaos of industrial life in a special 90th-anniversary screening of MODERN TIMES. After struggling with harsh factory work and then facing unemployment, Tramp’s run-ins with the law and friendship with a spirited young companion create a hilarious and touching journey of survival, resilience, and hope.
Filmed on the streets of Los Angeles including in Hollywood, San Pedro, and Charlie Chaplin Studios, this timeless comedy blends clever gags, heart, and a glimpse of L.A. history that makes it unforgettable on the big screen.
Two classics, one matinee, and endless laughter make this a perfect daytime outing. Reserve your seats now to experience Chaplin’s genius in person and see why his films continue to captivate audiences more than a century later.
Arrive early for live pre-show organ music and musical accompaniment for THE RINK by theater organist at the historic Bob Baker Marionette Theater, Edward Torres.
