The Biltmore Hotel: Host of the Coast
Saturday, October 25, 2025
1:30 p.m.
Join us at the historic Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles! Known in its early days as “The Host of the Coast, the Biltmore Hotel has a glittering history to tell—one of opulence, glamour, and progressive values.

About This Tour
Since its opening in 1923, the luxurious Biltmore Hotel has attracted celebrities and dignitaries alike, including Rudolph Valentino, the Prince of Wales, J. Paul Getty, Howard Hughes, Herbert Hoover, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
Alongside its high-end clientele and reputation for service, the hotel has a history of opening its doors to groups not always welcomed in elite circles. It was a hub for the LGBTQ+ community throughout the 1940s and ‘50s. A decade later, it was listed in the Green Book as a safe, travel-friendly location for members of the Black community. It also hosted many events and ceremonies for the Black community throughout the 1960s and beyond.
Today, this Beaux-Art marvel may be most notable for appearing in films such as Chinatown, Ghostbusters, Ocean’s 11, Spider-Man, Fight Club, and Pretty in Pink. But no matter what draws you to the Biltmore, you’ll be delighted and surprised by the stories it has to tell.
