ANNOUNCEMENT
2025 Chair’s Award and Media Award Recipients Celebrate Courage, Community, and Preservation

The Los Angeles Conservancy is proud to announce two special 2025 Preservation Awards will be presented at our celebration on Wednesday, April 23! In addition to the eight award recipients previously announced, this year’s event will also highlight the Chair’s Award and Media Award recipients, honoring extraordinary contributions to preservation, public service, and community resilience.
The Chair’s Award will be presented to the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine in Pacific Palisades, for its longtime stewardship of this long-treasured site and the exceptional actions taken to protect it from the Palisades Fire. When flames threatened the historic site, it was the Lake Shrine’s preparation, routine maintenance, and quick response—hoses in hand—that saved the structures from near destruction. Their bravery and commitment underscore the essential role of stewardship in preserving our shared history.
The special Media Award this year will honor field journalists who provided essential coverage during the wildfire crisis. With high winds grounding aerial news coverage, it was field reporters, along with their producers, drivers, and camera crews, who served as the public’s eyes and ears. Their courage, persistence, and dedication brought critical updates to affected communities in real time—often at great personal risk.
“These awards go beyond preservation—they recognize bravery, dedication, and the power of sharing the humanity and stories of those impacted by this natural disaster,” said Adrian Scott Fine, president and CEO of the Los Angeles Conservancy. “The Lake Shrine community’s efforts to safeguard this heritage site and field journalists’ frontline dedication and commitment remind us that preservation is not just about buildings—it’s about people, the power of place, and resilience.”
The 2025 Preservation Awards Celebration will gather preservation advocates, community members, and civic leaders to honor this year’s recipients and to celebrate the powerful ways preservation strengthens our communities.
Please join us for an exciting celebration recognizing all our recipients’ outstanding achievements in historic preservation throughout Los Angeles County. We are thrilled to celebrate at the 1960 Founder’s Church, a Modernist landmark designed by architect Paul Revere Williams!
