“I’ve supported the L.A. Conservancy for more than 40 years because the need never goes away, unfortunately, and the combination of learning and experiencing a variety of topics and locations keeps it fresh. I especially appreciate the Los Angeles Conservancy because they incorporate new ideas and focus on issues that evolve with the times; recent examples include legacy businesses and cultural reservation. I’m partial to Last Remaining Seats, as a member of the committee that created it.” With her interest in history and architecture, when Marcia saw call for walking tour docents in the L.A. Times in 1982, she signed up for the Conservancy’s first docent training program, which attracted more than 75 people. She later branched out to guiding themed walking tours and special events.”

Nearly half of the L.A. Conservancy’s 4,500 member households have been Conservancy members for ten years or more! As a thank you for your loyal support, we’re recognizing our current members who have belonged to the Conservancy for decades.
We were curious about what motivates people to stay engaged with the Conservancy for such a long time, so we checked in with Marcia Hanford and three other member households who have been Conservancy members for 40 or more consecutive years! That’s commitment!
