Monterey Park does not currently have a historic preservation ordinance.
The City recognizes two historically significant sites: a historic landscape containing a cascading waterfall that is maintained by the City, and the Jardin El Encanto, a former residence now owned by the City that functions as a rental property. A historic resource survey could uncover additional sites of historic significance throughout the city.
