I was enchanted with its beauty, its legendary history and its architecture. But I was also dismayed at the destruction of this glorious history as I saw historic structures disappear overnight and at an alarming pace. I was also saddened that there was no organization standing up for its historical preservation, but then the Los Angeles Conservancy was founded to save our cultural heritage and I wanted to be a part of it—so I was— and I am!”
