About This Tour
Step inside one of downtown L.A.’s ritziest hotels and learn how the Biltmore Hotel became known for its opulence, glamour, and progressive values.
Since its opening in 1923, the Biltmore Hotel’s magnificent architecture has attracted celebrities and dignitaries, including Rudolph Valentino, the Prince of Wales, J. Paul Getty, Howard Hughes, Herbert Hoover, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
Alongside its high-end clientele, the hotel has a history of opening its doors to groups not always welcomed in elite circles. It was a hub for the LGBTQ+ community throughout the 1940s and ‘50s. A decade later, it was listed in the Green Book as a safe, travel-friendly location for members of the Black community. It also hosted many events and ceremonies for the Black community throughout the 1960s and beyond.
Today, this Baux-Art marvel may be most notable for appearing in films such as Chinatown, Ghostbusters, Ocean’s 11, Spider-Man, Fight Club, and Pretty in Pink. But no matter what draws you to the Biltmore, you’ll be delighted and surprised by the stories it has to tell.
Upon registration, tourgoers will receive an exclusive discount for the hotel’s famed Afternoon Tea in the legendary Rendezvous Court.
