THE SHINING at The Million Dollar Theatre
Saturday, October 17, 2026
7 p.m.
A masterwork of psychological horror, THE SHINING follows a family isolated in a remote hotel where reality begins to fracture and terror takes hold. Starring Jack Nicholson and directed by Stanley Kubrick, this landmark film is even more unforgettable on the big screen at the historic Million Dollar Theatre.

THE SHINING (1980)
Some places never let you leave. Based on the novel by Stephen King, THE SHINING was directed by Stanley Kubrick in what is considered one of the most impactful psychological horror films. When a writer takes a winter caretaker job at the isolated Overlook Hotel, the silence of the mountains gives way to growing dread and unraveling sanity.
Starring Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, and Danny Lloyd, THE SHINING continues to captivate audiences with its unforgettable performances, stunning visuals, and chilling atmosphere. Whether you’re experiencing it for the first time or returning to uncover new layers of its mystery, this is a film that lingers long after the final scene.
THE SHINING is not just a great film, it has been a pop-culture touchstone for more than forty years. Join us for this full-scale cinematic experience!
Costumes are encouraged. Be sure to check our costume guidelines below.
