Overview
On November 6, 2025, the Cultural Heritage Commission voted to consider The Brady Bunch House as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. The two-story single-family home in Studio City served the main setting of the popular television show The Brady Bunch, which aired from 1969 to 1974.
About This Place
About This Place
The Brady Bunch House is a two-story single-family home with a detached garage, located in Studio City. Completed in 1959 and designed by Harry Londelius Jr. in the Contemporary Ranch style, the home’s exterior appeared in numerous establishing shots for The Brady Bunch during its run from 1969 to 1974. Although the show’s interior scenes were shot on soundstages, the home’s familiar front façade, driveway, and yard captured the hearts of millions and came to symbolize California suburban living for an entire generation.
The home features a cross and side gabled roof, a welcoming front porch, and large windows that fill the interior with natural light. Its colorful landscaping and distinctive architecture make it instantly recognizable, even decades after the show aired. In 2019, on HGTV’s “A Very Brady Renovation,” the interior of the house was reconstructed to match the original film sets, with the help of the original cast.
SurveyLA identified the property as individually eligible for local and state landmark designation due to its association with the television series.
Our Position
The Los Angeles Conservancy supports this nomination, recognizing the house for its cultural significance and the important role it plays as a seminal location in Los Angeles’ television and filming heritage. We’re thrilled that this treasured home is one step closer to landmark status.
