Los Angeles-born Paul Revere Williams was one of the country’s greatest architects. His career spanned almost 60 years, and his versatile buildings can be found across Los Angeles County. He was also a remarkable trailblazer. As a Black man in the field of architecture, he persevered in the face of racism to achieve remarkable success. 
To better understand the breadth of Williams’ work and accomplishments, the Los Angeles Conservancy and Southern California Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects are pleased to take you on a county-wide expedition celebrating the life, work, and legacy of L.A.'s legendary architect Paul Revere Williams.

Learn more about the efforts to preserve the work—and legacy—of Paul R. Williams, including the incredible story behind the preservation of the iconic Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Building. Joining us are Gail Kennard, Vice President of the City of Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission, and head of Robert Kennard Design Group, originally founded by her late father, Robert Kennard, FAIA, and the oldest African-American-owned architectural practice in the western United States, and Hillary Henderson, Director of Operations and Administration of the South Central Los Angeles Regional Center (located in Paul Williams' Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Building).

The Los Angeles Conservancy dedicates the Paul Revere Was Here campaign to the memory of Jerome Robinson. A longtime docent, volunteer, scholar and friend, Jerome’s recent work focused on architect Robert F. Kennard, who was inspired by Paul R. Williams.
