Dulan’s Soul Food Kitchen was founded by Adolf Dulan in 2001. The vision for the restaurant was born after a fated visit to New York in 1999, where Adolf and his son Terry took a tour of small eateries around the city. Although Dulan had previously found success running restaurants in Los Angeles, Dulan’s Soul Food Kitchen represented a dream.

After opening, Dulan’s Soul Food Kitchen quickly became know for its delicious and nostalgic flavors, representing the best of soul food. Adolf ran the restaurant’s two locations (Inglewood and Los Angeles) for 13 years, handing the business to his son Terry Dulan three years before passing away in 2017. Since then, Terry has expanded on the restaurant’s success. Dulan’s Soul Food Kitchen has won several awards, and has opened a new affiliate restaurant, Dulan’s on Crenshaw, run by Greg Dulan.

The Dulan family is also notable for its dedication to philanthropy, funding scholarships, cancer research, donating food to the homeless, and making charitable donations to churches, organizations, and charities.
